Matt Rothschild

A President for All or a President for One? (Hour 1)

October 16, 2024

Matt Rothschild guest co-hosting with Dom. We begin with a reminder of Trump's comments on weaponizing the military against US citizens. This leads us to the staggering endorsement for Harris from former Trump administration officials. Yesterday, Mike Esper, former Secretary of Defense for Trump called on voters to believe Trump when he says he would use the military against the people. Because Esper was there when he proposed doing just that. This isn't normal. Please, voters of all political orientations, heed the calls of leaders from the full political spectrum urging you to cast your vote for Kamala Harris.

Gwen Moore, sitting Congresswoman representing Wisconsin's 4th district, joins us for the second half hour. Congresswoman Moore presents the race simply: there's one candidate who will be a president for all. There is one candidate who will be a candidate for one. Choose well. Congresswoman Moore looks forward to the Harris presidency, where we can invest in families and quality of life!

The Riddle of Wisconsin

October 15, 2024

What is up with Wisconsin? The state that brought us the labor union and five day work week, the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment, the state once known as the "laboratory of democracy," has also brought us Joseph McCarthy and Scott Walker, and has become one of the most closely divided battleground states in the country. How did we get here, and how does what has happened here in this state reflect larger trends in American politics--a harbinger of what is to come, or how we can fix it?

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Oct 12

October 12, 2024

Catch up on the best segments from this week of The Dom Salvia Show!

First, an animated exchange from Tuesday with Maggie Daun on the continued lies spewing forth from senate candidate Eric Hovde. He chose to propagate a dangerous lie about FEMA being out of money, due to aid going to undocumented migrants. These lies harm real people and we absolutely cannot accept them.

Next, from Thursday, how IS help for states impacted by natural disasters getting to them? Well, through some socialist policies. And that's pretty darn good! Socialism built many of this country's best features.

Then a conversation from Thursday with John Nichols of the Cap Times and The Nation on the presidential race.  As John writes, Harris presents like a Lincoln-era Republican, and as we all see, Trump espouses eugenics. If that last linked article doesn't spell it out clearly enough for you, you may prefer this one

Finally, some outrage and humor with Matt Rothschild on Wednesday, responding to Jesse Waters bizarre assertion that a man who votes for a woman transitions into a woman. Well, at least then they'll have bodily autonomy...

How to respond to a disaster (Hour 2)

October 9, 2024

Matt Rothschild guest co-hosts with Dom. In this hour, they get to Bob Woodward's newest bombshell book. Bob Woodward's legacy of exposing corruption in politics stretches five decades. This time, Woodward peels back veils on conversations among top world officials surrounding some of the most critical upheavals of our lives. The COVID-19 pandemic. Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The current Middle-Eastern war. We're really looking forward to getting our hands on a copy of the book and reading it!

Then, let's do some compare and contrast of how the two main party candidates respond to crises. Trump lies about FEMA and discourages people from seeking critical aid. Harris leads with a calm certainty, gives clear instructions, and promotes unity. Gee this is a tough choice... Plus, a heart wrenching ad from the Lincoln Project on the real stakes of re-establishing bodily autonomy rights..

Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right (Hour 1)

October 9, 2024

So, technically, legally, a candidate *may* lie as part of their campaigning. But that sure doesn't make it right. Matt Rothschild joins Dom to dig back into Republican lies begun by Trump and spiraling down to Hovde. Plus, more of Hovde's despicable campaigning techniques. If you find these tactics as distasteful as we do, you can let their campaign know! Give them a call at 608-535-1184. Isn't it great that our carpetbagging Californian set up a Wisconsin number just for the campaign?

Mr. Biddle shares some of his most impactful experiences on the diamond and in his life since. He started Yesterday's Negro league Baseball Players Foundation in 1996 to support players and their legacies.

A Debatable Experience (Hour 2)

October 2, 2024

Matt Rothschild stays on to break down the VP debate between Tim Walz and JD Vance last night. Walz didn't have his strongest performance. And Vance never stopped lying. So who won? Well, that depends on how much you value truth. If that's a priority, there's no contest: Walz spoke honestly and earnestly, if haltingly. Read the full transcript or rewatch the debate here and decide for yourself.
