RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Dodge County Sheriff’s officials tell us a 16-year-old boy suffered serious burn injuries during an incident at an apartment building on Park Lane in Lomira Saturday evening.

A 911 caller reported the accident. An investigation determined a small fire started when the teen was using a lighter to melt plastic keys to a keyboard to repair it. A nearby bottle of isopropyl alcohol was ignited.

The fire was extinguished before the fire department arrived. There was minimal damage inside the apartment. The teen was flown to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee with suspected serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and remains hospitalized.

The fire is considered accidental, and it was determined that it was not intentional, nor the result of horseplay. No one was displaced as a result of the fire.
