Fatal Accident in Waupaca County

WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH)- Waupaca County Sheriff’s officials tell us a wrong way driver was killed after hitting a semi-tractor and trailer early this morning.

The Sheriff’s Office got a report about the crash on US Highway 10 near Old Highway 49 shortly after 1:30. The driver of the wrong way vehicle was heading west in the eastbound lanes of US Highway 10 and collided head-on with the semi.

The semi driver was not injured and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Weyauwega Police Department, Weyauwega Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Theda Star, the Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Waupaca County Highway Department.
