RIPON, Wis (WRPN) – Fond du Lac Police arrested a 32-year-old childcare worker at the beginning of the week suspected of breaking a 3-month-old baby’s arm.

According to Fond du Lac Police, they responded to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee after officials there reported the injury on Monday, Oct. 13.  The injury was first discovered when the toddler was picked up early from Lily Pad Day Care in Fond du Lac. She was taken to St. Agnes Hospital and referred to Children’s for specialized care.

The investigation involved multiple interviews and review of surveillance footage. As a result, Ashley Karschnick, a caretaker at Lily Pad Day Care, was arrested Monday for her suspected involvement in causing the injury.

The investigation also involved the Fond du Lac County Department of Human Services—Child Protective Services and Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.

Police Lieutenant Nick Hahn says, “The safety and well-being of our community’s children will always be our highest priority.”
