RIPON, Wis. (WRPN) – Two 16-year-old boys from Eden were hurt when their pickup truck ran into a farm tractor pulling a corn chopper in Fond du Lac County last evening.

According to Sheriff’s officials, 911 calls reported the collision on County Highway W and Sunset Drive in the town of Ashford shortly after 6:30 p.m. Deputies and Campbellsport Fire Department and Ambulance responded to the scene.

Both vehicles were heading south when the pickup struck the tractor. The 64-year-old Campbellsport man operating the tractor was not injured. The pickup truck driver was taken to Froedtert Hospital in West Bend and subsequently was transported to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee with serious injuries. His passenger was taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with minor injuries.

Investigators say inadequate lighting on the farm tractor and corn chopper are believed to be a factor in the crash.
