RIPON, Wis. (WRPN) – An aging electrical system has been cited as the cause of a fire that damaged a home in Fond du Lac Monday night.
According to County Sheriff’s officials, a woman living at N4861 County Highway V called 911 just after 6 p.m. reporting her roof was on fire and smoke was coming from it. Two adults, two children, and a dog were living in the home. All residents and animals were able to safely exit the home before emergency personnel arrived.
Fire crews entered the home and found an active fire in the attic space created from burning insulation. The fire was quickly extinguished. There was minimal fire and smoke damage to the attic space and room.
The woman told fire investigators a light went out suddenly in a room followed by a burning electrical smell. No injuries were reported.
