RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- The Thrasher Opera House is thrilled to announce that Pressing Strings, the dynamic genre-bending trio from Annapolis, Maryland, will be performing live on Thursday, October 16th at 7:30 p.m. This will be a 506 Session at Thrasher, with only eighty tickets available.
Pressing Strings—comprised of guitarist and vocalist Jordan Sokel, drummer Justin Kruger, and bassist Nick Welker—has garnered a loyal following by crafting a sound that expertly fuses the emotional grit of the blues, the laid-back swagger of folk, and the urgency of modern rock.
“Pressing Strings pushes the limits of what a trio can do,” says Sokel, whose smokey voice and intricate guitar work lead the band. The group’s high-caliber musicianship is anchored by the unique rhythm section: Kruger’s energetic, outside-the-box drumming and Welker’s solid, melodic bass lines and chordal voicings that give the trio a full, lush sound.
All three members contribute harmonies reminiscent of the Southern California sound of the 1970s, adding a fresh yet familiar layer to their music. Whether delivering heartfelt ballads or energetic anthems, the band provides a feel-good vibe that connects deeply with the audience.
The band has been actively touring the United States coast-to-coast, headlining clubs, and delighting crowds at major festivals such as FloydFest, Firefly, Sweetwater 420Fest, and the Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival. They have also shared the stage with major artists including Gov’t Mule, Toad the Wet Sprocket, JJ Grey, and Neil Francis.
This show is sponsored by Shoreline Boat Center, and Horicon Bank. Additional support is provided by the Oshkosh Community Foundation, the Wisconsin Arts Board, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
