I’ve Lived Here My Whole Life!

January 31, 2025

Guest: Pam Jahnke

John and Gordy had the opportunity to fill in for Maggie Daun on the network yesterday, which they were glad to do, but resulted in massive sleep deprivation this morning! In the midst of their crazed hallucinations, they manage to cover the National Day Calendar and Today in History, before chatting with Pam Jahnke about the wild warm weather we've been experiencing. They chat about how the tariffs planned to be implemented tomorrow may impact farmers, and mention that Green and Gold, the movie, will be premiering today! Later, we get into Idiocracy, talking up and down about fighting for democracy, in the place we've always called home. The guys chat about CESA, a department created by Trump, which he is now directing to stop all efforts combatting mis- and disinformation, and wrap up the hour mentioning the rising number of conspiracies and scapegoats being blamed for the airline crash.

Cold as ICE

January 27, 2025

Guest: Pam Jahnke

After a long weekend of collecting stories, John (and Gordy) start out the show with a rant on how we're now living in a dictatorship. We chat with an early morning caller about the brave new world we're living in, before distracting ourselves from reality with the National Day Calendar. We chat with Pam Jahnke about how the weird winter weather is affecting farmers here and elsewhere, and also hear about this year's Farm Dog of the Year, Sirius. Later, we dive into a series of stories for Idiocracy, ranging from the late-Friday night firings of several Inspectors General by Trump, Denmark's response to the US wanting Greenland, and wrap up the hour talking about the scary and illegal ICE raids now taking place.

Contraception Begins at Erection

January 24, 2025

Guest: Pam Jahnke

We should have taken the same strategy as yesterday, putting John in a straightjacket, as the first words out of his mouth are about Trump, welcoming J6 rioters, now pardoned, to the White House. After quelling that, we chat about the spooky happenings at the station lately, then dive into the National Day Calendar. The guys chat with Pam Jahnke, discussing the use of cheese brine to salt roads, and also a new GPS based invisible fencing system for cattle. Leaving the farm, we drift into the land of Idiocracy, today discussing a Mississippi bill that would criminalize masturbation (but is really meant to call attention to women's rights abuses), as well as Trump's justification for pardoning violent criminals. Wrapping up the first hour, we cover a story out of Milwaukee, about a Packer fan halting a Bears player from doing a Lambeau leap.

Losing Our Marbles

January 20, 2025

Guest: Pam Jahnke

John and Gordy kick off the week reminiscing about when they lost their marbles. We're all going to lose our marbles today, as #47 is sworn into office. To distract ourselves, we take a look at the National Day Calendar, and also chat with Pam Jahnke, the Fabulous Farm Babe, to hear how the cold weather is affecting farmers. Later, in today's dose of Idiocracy, the guys chat about how the inauguration was moved indoors, hear about proto-DEI in 80s, from In Living Color, and then dive into TikTok, which was killed, then recussitated over the weekend.

Fox, Pro-Terrorism?

January 13, 2025

Guest: Pam Jahnke

John and Gordy kick off the week talking about their first albums, way back in the 60s. They recap the Civic Media holiday party over the weekend, then dive into the National Day Calendar. They chat with Pam Jahnke, the Fabulous Farm Babe, about a dairy expo coming up later this week, and also get her take on how the lack of snow and winter weather is affecting Wisconsin businesses and farms. In today's dose of Idiocracy, we learn about how Trump was right about everything (truly, lol), Fox News' defense of white supremacists, and wrap up the hour with an interesting demand from David Corn: that billionaires be deported, and forced to pay reparations to the American people.

Civic Media Spotlight for January 11th & 12th (Hour 1)

January 11, 2025

On the Dom Salvia Show, Dom, with cohost of the day Jim Santelle, talks with Jack Kelly, statehouse reporter for Wisconsin Watch on the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Read Jack's most recent piece on the current and potential future status of the state's highest court here. With a current 4-3 liberal-conservative population and a liberal justice retiring, April's election will decide whether the current balance maintains or tips to the conservatives.

Then, on John and Gordy In the Morning, the guys talk with Pam Jahnke about the premiere of Green and Gold, the new movie shot in Wisconsin about the Green Bay Packers.

Next, on UpNorthNews Radio, Assembly Minority Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) and new state Sen. Sarah Keyeski (D-Lodi) discuss the opening of the new session of the Wisconsin Legislature. They had big hopes for bipartisan progress, now that fairer maps have made the Assembly and Senate more representative of Wisconsin voters. But Republicans have spent the week rushing to pass a voter suppression measure and even stripping away Democratic seats on committees.

Wrapping up the hour on the Maggie Daun Show, Maggie talks about one of her New Year intentions, not resolutions, of playing more. Maggie shares some of her favorite board games and takes calls and texts for recommendations about what games she can work into her intention to play more in 2025.

Later we get into the Idiocracy, covering the rehabilitation of Pete Hegseth, now being considered once again to head the DoD. After a rant on DoGE, John enlightens us to new ways to drink: with an automatic cocktail machine!.

December 9, 2024

Guest: Pam Jahnke

John and Gordy kick off the week recapping the Holiday Art Market, where they made an appearance on Saturday. They take a look at the National Day Calendar, and reflect on the one good drum solo: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Later, in today's edition of Idiocracy, we get into a clip from Steve Ratner comparing the Trump and Biden economies, and also take a look at how Trump was the "peacetime president." Closing out, the guys cover a groundbreaking story from Fox News, where they covered Hunter Biden showing a rare smile, and also we hear a clip from the hearing about Trump's assassination attempt, where a congressman and security guard came to near fisticuffs over 9/11.
