Jim Santelle
Money < Speech (Hour 1)
Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review, joins us as cohost for the day. For this first hour, we've got to talk money. Because this Supreme Court race is ridiculous. With a predicted total passing $100 million, one man bears over a full 25% of that burden. Elon Musk took it upon himself to fund this campaign ad absurdum, first with massive donations to BS's campaign. Then, he began paying people $100 to sign a petition against "activist judges"- which disqualifies BS for the position. Now, he's paying $1 million in surprise bonuses out to people who signed the aforementioned pay-for-pen petition. This disgusting flood of money into the judicial race distorts the democratic process. And frankly some of it may be illegal. Just today, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul announced a lawsuit against the most recent Musk Bucks episode.

Toxic Toughness (Hour 2)
We’re having to endure an age where too many politicians have set aside the notion of service and solutions, choosing instead to base their ambitions on being perceived as “tough.” It’s led to a national security team incapable of accountability after a botched group text and a Wisconsin Legislature considering a bill that threatens to stuff our prisons, even when rehabilitation is a proven alternative. We’ll discuss those stories and more with our week-in-review panel.

Lies And The Liars Who Tell Them (Hour 1)
In an election season, you're going to see all sorts of ads in all sorts of mediums and they will say almost anything they want. We want to break down a falsity being told by the Brittany Kinser campaign. Next, Jane and Greg take a moment to pat themselves on the back, don't worry, it won't take long. But we also use this moment to point out a disturbing truth about The Supreme Court. Then it's time to bring on Civic Media's very own Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review. Jim is here every week to break down all the news having to pertain to the law and there is never a shortage of it.

The End of the Republic?
In hour two, we dive into the Big Story: the news that Pete Hegseth accidentally sent intel about an upcoming military strike, via text, to the editor of the Atlantic (!). We hear from several folks about the fallout and consequences of this utter breach of security. We check in with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot for a look at the weather (and the snowman she made yesterday!) before hearing one more clip, from Pete Buttigieg, telling his own story of working with military intelligence - and the respect it deserves. Later, we welcome on attorney and host of Amicus: A Law Review Jim Santelle, to discuss the Alien Enemies act court case being heard right now - in response to the Trump administration illegally detaining immigrants during "peacetime." They also get his take on the Hegseth text message debacle, and wrap up with his explanation and opinion on the potential need for a constitutional amendment, or even a convention.

Due Process, that’s not old fashioned is it? (Hour 2)
Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review, joins us as cohost for the day. Our main discussion this hour is due process- the set order by which justice proceeds in this country. But first, we take a segment to discuss the rallying of Democrats and all those who oppose the tumbling slide into oligarchy and authoritarianism. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) set off this week on a joint venture for Fighting Oligarchy. We need this energy calling out the actions of this Presidential administration to shift power away from We the People to a select few. Because We the People stand for a social contract that binds us together into something greater than the sum of our parts. We better be ready to fight for it.
Then, we turn to the main story of the day. Last Saturday, this administration deported several hundred individuals they claim to be associated with a Venezuelan gang. Two big problems with this. One: a federal judge ordered the administration NOT to deport the individuals. Why? Because, two: this administration DID NOT follow due process to deport these people! Now, the federal judge, James Boasberg, weighs how to proceed after "woefully insufficient" details from the Trump team. Potentially, part of their due process may involve time behind bars for contempt of court.

Cynicism Unbound (Hour 1)
Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review, joins us as cohost for the day. In this hour, we discuss the upcoming race to fill a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. This race pits Judge Susan Crawford against Judge Brad Schimel- to whom we'll refer as BS. Throughout the past few weeks, we've provided extensive reasoning to vote FOR Susan Crawford and AGAINST BS. Today, we've got more. He consistently demonstrates a deep, abounding cynicism for Wisconsin's people and judicial norms. In this campaign, BS enlisted help from the richest man in the world, who has poured over $10 MILLION into the race already.
The newest scheme highlights the intense cynicism: paying people $100 to sign a petition denouncing "activist judges." This is particularly atrocious given BS's close ties to our President. In fact, BS came out saying that our President needs a "support network" of judges. His own campaign support network mails out literature explicitly pairing Trump and BS. This is not a man capable of setting aside politics for justice. So make sure to get out and vote by Tuesday, April 1st. Check your voter registration and all other ballot items here.

The Crisis Is Looming? (Hour 2)
We hear a lot that a Constitutional crisis is looming, but with President Trump’s defiance of judges’ orders, aren’t we already there? We’ll talk to a former US Attorney as part of our week-in-review panel.

Here Come The Judges! (Hour 1)
Absentee voting is open and the election is soon, so we're looking at Judge Brad Schimel and ask ourselves; Is he really the best they can do? From insults to non-partiality, can Wisconsin do better than him? Next, Jim Santelle is a former US Attorney and host of Amicus: A Law Review and he stops by to talk all things law news including a rare statement from a Supreme Court Justice, the president dismantling the Department Of Education and how the judges of this country are doing what The Felon President seems incapable of doing: Uphold and defend our Constitution.

The law faces off against the executive (Hour 2)
Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review, joins us as cohost for the day. This week, the courts have been extremely busy challenging unlawful orders of the Trump administration. They secured at least a temporary reprieve for probationary federal workers fired last month, who they order must be rehired immediately. Federal judge Beryl Howell came to the defense of law firms targeted by Trump, issuing a temporary restraining order against the President's illegal executive order. In all, 123 lawsuits challenges have been filed against executive orders and actions of this administration in under two months. It's going to be a long, bumpy 4 years, friends.
So stick with us during those bumpy times! Don't give up on democracy, we've got our next election Tuesday April 1st. Check your voter registration and all items on your ballot, then make a plan and vote! And remember to find the good in each day. That's why we end each day by sharing something good ^_^

Justice Weeps (Hour 1)
Jim Santelle, host of Amicus: A Law Review, joins us as cohost for the day. Today, our President, in a shattering of norms, address HIS Department of Justice. Once a department that prided itself on their independence from the whims of the Oval Office's executive, the DoJ is now firmly Trump's. In an over hour-long address, Trump directed the Department to pursue his enemies, whose actions he deems illegal. And who would that be? Oh, you know, the press. This is an enormous departure from the norms that guided the Department of Justice for decades. Justice should be impartial, guided by principles of law. Instead, here we see a president directing them to go after specific people and organizations. This isn't justice, it's an atrocity.
Justice will face a reckoning in Wisconsin on Tuesday, April 1st as we elect our next state Supreme Court justice. Check your voter registration and all items on your ballot, then make a plan and vote by April 1st!
