MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (WRJN) – Mount Pleasant police and federal agents arrested eight suspects this week in a January gang shootout outside a bar. The incident saw one man being shot in the leg and dozens of shots fired off in a residential area.

A statement says officers executed warrants at 10 locations across Mount Pleasant and Racine on Feb. 24th and 25th. Partners included the ATF, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Racine Police Department, Kenosha Police Department and Racine County sheriff’s offices. The raids netted 23 firearms, 26 grams of crack cocaine, 245 grams of THC and 310 grams of synthetic THC.

The incident unfolded Jan. 18 around 2 a.m. in the 2100 block of Racine Street near Snaps bar. Surveillance video captured two rival groups arguing inside, which then spilled outside. There was there then about 30 seconds of gunfire. One victim suffered a nonfatal leg wound, received hospital treatment, and was released.

Criminal complaints have been filed for some of the people involved. Among them, 32 year old Marcell D. Adams of Mount Pleasant, a convicted felon barred from guns. Adams allegedly flashed a gun inside Snaps and fired at rivals. Charges for Adams include first-degree recklessly endangering safety with a dangerous weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and disorderly conduct. Several others arrested were out on bond or on a probation that prohibited weapon possession.

Mount Pleasant Police Chief Robert Botsch hailed the “swift and tireless” effort to protect the community.
