A repeat drug dealer has been sentenced to 14 years after attempting to smuggle methamphetamine into the Sauk County Jail.

Brian D. Hill, age 48, was convicted of five counts, including Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (>10-50g) – Second or Subsequent Offense, and Possession of an Illegal Article by an Inmate as a Repeater. He has been sentenced to serve eight years of initial confinement followed by six years of extended supervision.

Hill’s extensive criminal history includes 30 prior criminal convictions, which includes multiple previous convictions for Manufacturing/Delivering controlled substances.

The conviction followed a turn of events on September 3, 2025, when Hill chose to enter a plea of no contest shortly before opening statements were set to begin, after a jury had already been selected and seated for his trial. The charges stem from a traffic arrest where Hill was found attempting to smuggle approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine into the Sauk County Jail via body cavity.

To put the scale of this seizure into perspective, 20 grams represents between 67 and 200 single doses of methamphetamine.

This high-volume quantity, combined with Brian Hill’s attempt to breach jail security, underscored the serious nature of the criminal enterprise.
