
River Valley won a non-conference boys’ basketball 54-29 over visiting Brodhead on Friday night. The Blackhawks led the entire game and were up 30-16 at halftime. The lead grew to 20 points in the 2nd half before the Cardinals got within 12. A turning point in the game was a 3-point basket by Quincy Blakely which put River Valley up by 15 and Brodhead would get no closer.
The Blackhawks are now 5-3 overall with the win. Senior Lucas Klein led the scoring with 17 including 3 three pointers. Keagan Heiser added 11, Bryce Ferguson scored 8, Sumner Nachreiner added 6, Quincy Blakely had 5, Kaden Plumley 4 points and Trevor Henkel added 3. River Valley was 3 for 9 from the line.
Brodhead fell to 0-7 with the loss. There were led in scoring by Sam Searls and Nolan Bump who each had 9 points. Searls made two three pointers and the team was 1 for 5 from the line.
River Valley won the JV 1 game 57-28 earlier in the night.
Following the 54-29-win, River Valley will prepare for a busy January schedule with a game on Tuesday at Mauston and they will look for a first conference win after an 0-2 start against Prairie du Chien next week. Brodhead will play Saint Ambrose on Monday night.
