SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) There was a lot of exciting action in high school basketball around Wisconsin Friday night. Civic Media’s Phil Nee was at the Lancaster-Richland Center match-up.

The Lancaster girls’ basketball team opened up the Southwest Wisconsin Conference with an 85-31 win over the host Richland Center Hornets. The Arrows used a pressure defense to force turnovers and turned many of those into points as they opened up a 42-16 halftime lead.

A freshman, Lexie Olmstead, led all scorers with 24 points including two three pointers. The Arrows had 4 players finish in double figures and two others ended with 9 points. Kylie Olmstead added 12, Addison Morgan scored 11 including two threes, and Maddie Burr totaled 10. Maddie Driscoll and Katie Murphy each had 9 points.  Lancaster was 8 for 18 from the line and they totaled 7 three pointers.

Richland Center junior Ellavy Weiss had 16, Addie Board and Ella Clements each had 5 points, Ava Martin scored 4, Kylie Burns had 3, and Taylor Wertz added 2. The Hornets were 2 for 9 from the line. Addie Board made the teams only three point basket.

Lancaster won the JV 1 game at RCHS Friday night, 31-13 over the Hornets.

With the 85-31 varsity win, Lancaster is now 5-0 and 1-0 in the SWC.  They will play a non-conference game on Tuesday at Cassville against Potosi/Cassville.  Richland Center’s record is now 1-3 after they dropped the conference opener. The Hornets will play on Tuesday at Riverdale.

Fellow senior captain Allie Goplin hit two big 3 pointers in the second half to finish with 6 points. Haley Schneider and Bailey Harris each scored 6 points.

Junior Jocey Adams scored 4, senior Lily Barr and fellow senior Mallory Miess each knocked down a 3 pointer. Sophomore Kate Miess scored 2 points to round out the scoring. Riverdale will host two home games next week starting with Richland Center on Tuesday and Iowa Grant on Thursday.
