There’s a new name for Racine’s Regency Mall. The owners now want you to call it the Pritchard Park Mall. Developers say the rebrand aligns with new projects around the site, including hundreds of new housing units and updated infrastructure.

The announcement posted on social media yesterday drew reactions from some who say it’ll be hard to change the habit. The complex opened in 1975. In recent years, it has been partially demolished to make way for Woodman’s, apartments, and other open retail spaces. Ground broke on the $120 million Pritchard Park Place Apartments this summer, and city officials expect residents to start moving in next year. The mall directory still lists 15 local businesses.
