Musical tribute to be held for Longtime WRCO Announcer Ray Schroeder

RICHLAND CENTER, Wis. (WRCO) – Family and friends of Ray Schroeder will be hosting a tribute on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Ocooch Books and Libations/Mastodon Records.

Records and CDs that Ray collected through the years will be offered for sale.

The family is planning to use the proceeds for an upcoming memorial for the longtime WRCO announcer.

Ray began a lengthy career with the Department of Motor Vehicles as a driver’s license examiner in Milwaukee, Wis. in 1958.

In 1962 Ray, his wife Harriet, and his family moved to Richland Center to be closer to family and friends.

In addition to his career with the DMV, he embarked on a 55-year career as a part time high school sports broadcaster and radio show host with WRCO Radio.

Ray was the radio voice for River Valley Blackhawks and Richland Center Hornets football and basketball games. He was best known for his popular Saturday Big Band Radio Show “Reminiscing with Ray”.

Ray passed away in July 2020.

Adam Hess has been involved in radio broadcasting since 1990, with many of those years spent on the air at WRCO FM in Richland Center. Currently, Adam hosts the Weekend Wake-up and Prime Mover Saturdays on WRCO FM, jumps in and helps out with news duties, handles Social Media duties for WRCO and WRCE, and is the Director of Technology at a Southwest Wisconsin School District.
