
MUSCODA, Wis. (WRCO / WRCE) – Riverdale passed the first test of the WIAA volleyball tournament with a three sets to one victory over visiting New Lisbon. The scores were 25-20 and 25-10, Riverdale. New Lisbon won the third set 25-23 before the Chieftains took the match with a 25-23 win.
Highlights of the night included Emily Goplin getting four kills in the opening set; Riley Kinney had two kills in the second set while Allie Goplin added 2 aces. New Lisbon was led by Bristol Dummer with two kills in the third set, while Keira Wilkinson had two kills and an ace. In the fourth set, Riverdale was paced by Macy McCay with two kills and an ace while Lainey Meiss had a key ace to give the Chieftains game point.
With the 3-1 win, Riverdale will now prepare for the second round of the WIAA tournament. On Thursday, the Chieftains will travel to Brookwood. The Falcons had a first round bye in the tournament. The WIAA regional semi-final will begin at 7 p.m. The winner of that match will advance to the Regional Championship on Saturday night.
