GRANT COUNTY, Wis. (WRCO / WRCE) – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports on Thursday, Sept. 18 at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Grant County Communications Center was notified of a one-vehicle rollover accident with injuries near Weinbrenner Road in Fennimore Township.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the driver, 16-year-old Elizabeth Stewart Fennimore, was westbound on Weinbrenner Road. Stewart informed deputies that she and her three passengers were traveling westbound. Stewart advised she was driving too fast on the loose gravel of the newly chip-sealed roadway, when she came over a hill and lost control of her vehicle.
The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned, striking a power pole before coming to rest on its roof. All three occupants received injuries and were transported by EMS to Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster for treatment of their injuries. As a result of the crash, Stewart was issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control, and one passenger was cited for not wearing a seatbelt.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Fennimore Fire Dept, Fennimore EMS, Lancaster EMS, and Montfort EMS. The vehicle received disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
