
Hornets drop home soccer match
RICHLAND CENTER, WIS (WRCO / WRCE)- The Richland Center boys soccer team lost to visiting Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld 3-0 in a non-conference game played on Tuesday night. The Vangards led 1-0 during a hard fought first 40 minutes of action. In the second half they added two more goals and played well defensively to shut out the Hornets. Senior Greyden Schomber made an unassisted goal just over 13 minutes into the contest and assisted on a goal by Senior Tucker Acker in the 2nd half. The final Vangards goal came at 50 minutes when River Lubchansky hit the net with a penalty kick. Keeper Finn Sutherland led the shutout.
The Hornets had some scoring chances in both halves. Sophomore Connor Stoltz came close twice in the 2nd half. Richland Center had strong play from sweeper Cody Pauls. Caleb Fetterly played keeper for the Hornets, and Shawn Adams had a strong game in the midfield for Richland Center.
Following the 3-0 loss, the Hornets will return to conference action on Thursday at Dodgeville against Dodgeville/Mineral Point. Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld will return home to play Waupun also on Thursday.
