Veterans, Families Invited to 2025 Racine County Stand Down Resource Fair

RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) – Racine County is inviting veterans, their families, and community members to the 2025 Veteran Stand Down, a resource fair and day of support set for Saturday, Sept. 13, at Festival Hall in Racine.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is designed to provide assistance to veterans facing challenges such as homelessness, unemployment, and access to health care. It is hosted in partnership with Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin and supported by more than a dozen community sponsors.

Organizers say more than 60 local, state, and federal organizations will be on hand to connect veterans with information and services. Resources available include housing assistance, health care and mental‑health support, food aid, VA benefits counseling, and employment opportunities.

Animal therapy and recreational programs will also be offered, giving veterans a chance to connect with services in a supportive environment.

Shawn Rivers, Racine County Veterans Service Officer, said the Stand Down highlights both the needs and the strengths of the veteran community. “It’s about connecting veterans with the care and support they’ve earned and giving neighbors a chance to show appreciation and better understand their experiences,” Rivers said. “We’re grateful to our community partners and sponsors for making this possible.”

A free lunch and cold‑weather gear will be provided to veterans while supplies last. Veterans are encouraged to bring proof of service such as a DD214 or military ID.
