SWTC named Number 1 two-year college in the nation
Southwest Tech has received the 2025 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the highest award a community college can earn.
FENNIMORE, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Southwest Wisconsin Technical College is celebrating a major honor — being named the #1 two-year college in the nation.
Southwest Tech has received the 2025 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the highest award a community college can earn. A free, family-friendly celebration is planned for Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the main campus in Fennimore. No registration is needed, and everyone is welcome.
The day will feature hands-on demonstrations from academic programs, campus tours, giveaways, food trucks, and live music.
The Aspen Prize is awarded every two years to one college in the country for outstanding student learning, completion rates, equity, and post-college success.

Adam Hess has been involved in radio broadcasting since 1990, with many of those years spent on the air at WRCO FM in Richland Center. Currently, Adam hosts the Weekend Wake-up and Prime Mover Saturdays on WRCO FM, jumps in and helps out with news duties, handles Social Media duties for WRCO and WRCE, and is the Director of Technology at a Southwest Wisconsin School District.
