Monday, August 4

There is a school supply drive from now through Monday, August 25 at the Edward Jones office, 101 South Church Street, Richland Center. You can drop off donated school supplies Monday through Friday from 8:00a until 3:00p.

Vacation Bible School for children 5K through 5th Grade will be held Monday through Friday, August 4-7, from 9:00a to 11:30a at Grace Community Church in Richland Center.

Walk with GRACE teams who have calendar raffle tickets they are not selling are asked to turn them ASAP. There are a number of teams in need of tickets and there are none left at the GRACE Office. If you have tickets you are not using, please call the GRACE Office at 608-604-8255. Arrangements can be made to pick them up from you and deliver them to teams in need.

Vernon County Over 50 hosts Tai Chi Exercise at Bethel Home in Viroqua, and the Ontario and Readstown Public Libraries each Monday and Wednesday from 1:00p to 1:45p. For more information call Vernon County Over 50 at 262-384-0082.


Tuesday, August 5

The Richland County Highway Department will be blacktopping in Allison Park on State Highway 80 Tuesday, August 5. The Highway Dept will be closing the intersection of State Highway 80 and Sunset Lane from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. If possible please avoid that intersection.

Forget Me Not, an ADRC Support Group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30a to Noon at the Richland Center Community Center. Forget Me Not is a supportive group of people curious about how to handle their memory issues while having a medical diagnosis with any form of early mild cognitive impairment. Walk with Grace Luminary Bags are available at various locations: Royal Bank, Richland County Bank, Community First Bank, All American Do It Center, and WCCU on Highway 14 East, all in Richland Center; The People’s Community Bank in both Richland Center and Spring Green; and Walsh’s Ace Hardware in Richland Center and Muscoda. Luminaries are also available at the Grace Office Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00a to 3:00p. Luminary Bags with the $5 donation per name can be turned in to a team captain; the GRACE Office Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00a to 3:00p; or to Marge Bisco at the Richland County Bank by August 5.
Include Team name so credit gets applied. Bags need to be turned in no later than 5:00p Wednesday, August 6, to the Luminary Committee to be included in the video and names read at the Walk. Contact Linda Kleppe at 608-604-3223, or Christina Powell at 608-963-1478 for more information.

Easy Yoga for Seniors will be held each Tuesday from 10:30a to 11:15a at Bethel Home Fellowship Hall in Viroqua. To register leave a message for Vernon County Over 50 at 262-384-0082 or email over50lunch@yahoo.com.

People First Bowling, bowling for people with disabilities, is held each Tuesday from 3:00p to 5:00p at the Phoenix Center in Richland Center. Cost to participate is $2 per game. For more information call The Phoenix Center at 608-649-7469.

Tuesday, August 5, is National Night Out. Celebrate in Richland County at the Richland County Fairgrounds from 5:00p to 8:00p. The event is designed to bring families, neighbors, and first responders together for community fun and safety. This free event features music, food vendors, first responder vehicles, local organization displays, bouncy houses, and the K9-5K Walk/Run. Pre-registration for the 5K can be done online. Pre-registration is $35. Registration for the 5K can also be done the day of the event beginning at 4:30 at a cost of $40.

Concessions will be available in the Killian Meyer Building during Church League Softball with proceeds going towards construction of dugouts at Krouskop Park. The concessions will be open from approximately 6:00p to 9:00p each game night until further notice.

Enjoy a night of Euchre every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:30p at the Mick Memorial Park Community Building in Hub City.


Wednesday, August 6

Enjoy an afternoon of Euchre every Wednesday at 1:00p at the old school in Avoca.

The Richland Area Farmers’ Market is held each Wednesday, from 1:30p to 5:30p at the corner of Court and Orange Streets. This week join the Richland County 4-H at the Richland Area Farmers Market for kid’s activities. For more information, visit richlandareafarmersmarket.org or call 608-213-3374.

The Walk with GRACE Captain’s Night & Survivor Reception will be held Wednesday night beginning at 5:00p at the Phoenix Center in Richland Center. The evening will include a free-will donation pizza buffet, and a short program at 6:00p featuring researchers from the Carbone Cancer Center in Madison and Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Cancer survivors are also invited to register and receive a free gift. Team captains are urged to turn in team packets. All calendar raffle tickets and luminaries sold must be turned in at this time to count toward the team total for this year. Money can be turned in at the Walk, but will not count towards the team total.

Grief support and confidential conversation will be held the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5:30p to 6:30p at the Richland Center Community Center.

The Music in the Parks, presented by the Friends of Vernon County Parks and Forests, concert series will be held Wednesday night, August 6, with Ann Christoffer Music / Annie & The Crush performing at Esofea-Rentz County Park. The free concert will run from 6:00p to 8:30p. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the music. Hill County Classic Power meets the first Wednesday night of each month at 8:00p at the Phoenix Center in Richland Center.

Vernon County Human Services Department will assist individuals with Power of Attorney for Healthcare documents the first Thursday of each month from 9:00a to Noon at the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Vernon County. To make an appointment call 608-637-5201 or 1-888-637-1323.

The Lone Rock Farmers Market is held each Thursday until October from 3:30p to 6:30p at Center Park on Highway 130. Follow the Lone Rock Farmers Market Facebook page for updates on what’s happening at the market.

Celebrate Recovery -RC meets every Thursday night from 6:00p to 8:00p at the Nazarene Outreach Center in Richland Center. Food is available starting at 5:30p. Celebrate Recovery – Richland Center is sponsored by Grace Community Church.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers a free course to anyone who wants to learn English. The class runs from 7:00p to 8:00 PM every Thursday and from 11:00a until Noon every Saturday at the Church located on Executive Lane in Richland Center. For more information, call (262) 893-3763.
