IOWA COUNTY, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – A Richland Center resident died in a fatal crash in the Town of Clyde. Iowa County Sheriff, Michael Peterson, reports that Friday night (August 1) at approximately 7:45 the Iowa County 911 Center received a report of a serious crash on State Highway 130, north of Spring Valley Road, in the Town of Clyde.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Lucas Weitzel, 21 of Richland Center, was operating a motorcycle northbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control on a curve and struck a guardrail. Bystanders and emergency responders immediately attempted life-saving measures, but despite their efforts, Lucas Weitzel was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iowa County Coroner’s Office. This marks Iowa County’s sixth fatal crash of 2025.

Emergency response to the incident included Lone Rock Fire Department, Dodgeville EMS, Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, Avoca Fire Department, and UW MedFlight.
