SAUK COUNTY, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – UPDATE: Name of victim has been released.

One person was killed in a two vehicle crash. Late Monday afternoon (July 28) at approximately 4:45 the Sauk County Dispatch Center was notified of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Shutte Road and Highway 33 in the Town of La Valle.

Passersby reported an SUV had struck a dump truck and both vehicles were on fire.

Responding Deputies arrived and learned the driver of the SUV, Jake Strampe, 42 of LaValle, was still in the vehicle.

The La Valle Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire.

Jake Strampe, the lone occupant of the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the dump truck was transported to the Reedsburg Area Medical Center for treatment.
