WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR, WIRI) – Tri-City Services is celebrating their 80th anniversary with an Open House at their new location.

They’ve moved into what was the health services building for the old paper mill. Tri-City Services will be sharing part of their office space with Accounting Advantage LLC.

History

When the business started in 1945, it was called Tri-City Refrigeration. Owner Frank Malek focused on commercial refrigeration. The name Tri-City refers to the area of Port Edwards, Nekoosa, and Wisconsin Rapids. Denis and Carole Virnig purchased the business from Frank when he was ready to retire in 1974. They operated Tri-City out of their home until 1982 when they purchased a 6,800 square foot building across the street.

Andrea Jensen began working for the company full-time after graduating from UWSP in 1999 when her mother, Carole, was ready to retire. Her father, Denis, passed away unexpectedly in 2009 and Andrea took over as President and General Manager. In 2019 Andrea became the sole owner and the business was rebranded to Tri-City Services. Andrea’s husband, Andrew, joined the business in 2021 after having worked for another large, regional HVAC Contractor since 2008.

New Services, New Location

Tri-City has expanded the scope of services they offer over the years to include heating, air conditioning, and water heaters. They offer these services for both residences and commercial businesses in addition to commercial refrigeration. New in 2025, they now also offer plumbing services.

Their new location is near the Verso paper mill at 321 4th Avenue North in Wisconsin Rapids. With 25,000 square feet of space, Tri-City will have classroom space to train their own technicians, along with space to have hands-on training on furnaces, air-conditioners, water heaters and other equipment they service. With their current technicians, installers, and plumbers, they already have over 230 years of field experience.

Open House

The Open House celebrating Tri-City Services 80th Anniversary and their new location is July 25th from 11AM to 6PM. They’ll have food, fun, and raffle prizes. If you bring a non-parishable food item for the FOCUS Food Pantry, Tri-City will donate $1 for every item collected.
