WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – Officials from Planned Parenthood say some of their locations in Wisconsin could close if the proposed federal budget bill passes.

A measure in the proposed budget would prevent residents from using BadgerCare to pay for the services they receive at Planned Parenthood, which could include routine healthcare or annual checkups. On top of losing that revenue, anti-abortion groups are also still looking for ways to close facilities that provide abortion services after state courts determined that an 1849 law did not ban consensual abortion in the state.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Supreme Court had previously ruled that states can restrict Medicaid money from going to Planned Parenthood.

In late June, Wisconsin Department of Health Service Secretary Kristen Johnson had assured residents that hospitals are still authorized to perform life-saving abortions.

Additional details on President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” can be read here.
