MILWAUKEE, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – The man at the center of the Judge Dugan courtroom controversy will plead guilty to illegally entering the U.S.

As part the plea agreement, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz faces up to two years in prison and will be deported after serving the sentence. Judge Hannah Dugan, accused of helping him evade federal agents, remains indicted on obstruction charges, with her trial date recently delayed.

Flores-Ruiz’s sentencing is the latest in a series of developments stemming from Judge Dugan’s initial indictment in early May. Dugan’s lawyers claim the judge’s actions in the courtroom have absolute immunity, and therefore the case should be dismissed.

Dugan is faced with up to six years in prison if she is convicted. Read our previous coverage of the ongoing trial here.
