PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis (WRCO) – The Richland Center softball team will play in the WIAA Sectional Final game today at Poynette after an 8-0 win at Prairie du Chein on Wednesday night.

The Hornets started strong with a 4 run 2nd inning. Senior Carley Mieden went 3 for 3 with a walk, an rbi, and 3 runs scored. Chloe Darling hit a 2 run single in the 2nd which gave the team all it needed. Senior Maddie McGlynn added a single and an rbi groundout to help Richland Center improve to 16-8 overall.  Freshman pitcher Kyree Fischer continues to impress as she went the distance throwing a 2 hitter, walking 2 and striking out 17 Blackhawk batters.

Claire Kennedy suffered the pitching loss for Prairie du Chein after giving up 7 hits, walking 3, and striking out 9.  She had a hit as did Ella Lange.  The Blackhawks saw their season end at 19-8.

Richland Center will now play at Poynette today at 5 pm for the right to go to the WIAA state tournament. Their opponent will be Poynette after they won 5-1 Wednesday night over Marshall.
