MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) – The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 33-year-old man Wednesday night following a medical emergency at the Milwaukee County Jail.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, a correctional officer was alerted around 7:41 p.m. that the man was unconscious.

Jail staff declared a medical emergency and attempted lifesaving efforts, including giving two doses of Narcan.

Milwaukee Fire Department personnel got there and continued their effort to resuscitate him, but the man was pronounced dead at 8:19 p.m.

Authorities said the man had been in custody since November on a felony methamphetamine possession charge.

The man’s death comes just over two months after another in-custody death at the jail. The investigation is ongoing.
