GRANT COUNTY, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – The Grant County Sheriff’s Department reported a fatal UTV crash occurred Wednesday evening, May 21.

The crash happened at approximately 5:20 pm on private property, just off of Oak Road north of Dickeyville, in the town of Paris. When officers arrived on scene, they learned Mario Cardenas, 27 of St. Landry LA, was driving the UTV down a hill when he lost control on the muddy hillside.

The UTV rolled onto its side, pinning Cardenas underneath of it. Cardenas was the lone occupant of the UTV, and he was not wearing his seat belt.

Cardenas was located approximately two hours after he left on the UTV, and was unresponsive and showed no signs of life.
