RACINE, Wis (WRJN) – The Racine County Sheriff’s Office has been honored with two top awards for its efforts to protect children and combat online exploitation.

The Wisconsin Fraternal Order of Police presented the Meritorious Conduct Award to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division, recognizing their work in safeguarding children from cyber predators.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice also named the Racine County ICAC unit “Agency of the Year”, citing its success in arresting a high number of child predators throughout Racine County and clearing over 100 cyber tip cases from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the past year.

The ICAC unit’s work extends beyond local borders, assisting other Wisconsin jurisdictions and leading training for law enforcement statewide. The team also enforces compliance with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry, resulting in multiple arrests of convicted offenders.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, ICAC affiliates in Racine County play a key role in statewide efforts to reduce internet crimes against children.
