Cashton man dies a week after pedestrian accident

VERNON COUNTY, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports the pedestrian in an accident that occurred last Saturday night (April 19) around 9:45, has died.

Robert James Giesler, 21 of Cashton, was struck by a commercial motor vehicle on State Highway 27, approximately 1.5 miles south of Cashton, in the Town of Christiana.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Giesler was walking south on the northbound shoulder, when he suddenly entered the traveled portion of the highway, and collided with a northbound Semi. This resulted in very serious injuries and Giesler was flown from the scene to Gundersen Health System, in La Crosse, by GundersenAIR.

Robert Giesler, 21 of Cashton, was pronounced dead at Gundersen Health System, in La Crosse, late Monday afternoon (April 21).

The incident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and Vernon County Coroner, Betty Nigh.
