SOLDIERS GROVE, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – A Ramen Noodle Skate Park Restaurant, a hammer that turns into a cookie, and a mobile cancer treatment support unit were just some of the many business ideas that came out of the Third Annual Career Fair Day hosted at North Crawford High School earlier this month.
Seven busloads of students from high schools across the region were treated to a daylong event featuring 15 workshops and 25 college and career trade show booths.
The high schools participating included Prairie du Chien, Kickapoo, De Soto, Seneca, West Salem, and Wauzeka-Steuben, as well as host high school, North Crawford.
Small Business Development Center (SBDC) consultants Nora Roughen-Schmidt and Kate Koziol ran the “Turn your Ideas into Reality” business planning workshop where more than 50 students came up with business ideas and presented them to the group. The Small Business Development Center workshop used the Business Canvas tool to encourage and provide a framework for sketching out new business ideas.
Ten colleges and universities also attended the Career Day event including UW-Platteville, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stout, University of Minnesota-Rochester, and Grand Canyon University located in Phoenix, Arizona. Regional and local businesses were also in attendance including Rockwell Automation, Mathy Construction, Dove Healthcare-Fennimore, Select Milk Producers, Inc., and TRANE Technologies.
