The Partners for Prevention Coalition, in collaboration with Richland County Health and Human Services, is sponsoring an evening with author and attorney Todd Kinney at the Brewer Public Library Wednesday (April 9) from 6:30 to 7:30. The event, titled The Road to Sobriety, is free and open to the public. Todd Kinney, author of the memoir I Didn’t Believe It Either: One Dad’s Discovery That Everything Is Better Without Alcohol, will share his personal journey of giving up alcohol and how sobriety transformed his life. Kinney’s story offers a look into the challenges and triumphs of overcoming gray area drinking patterns of alcohol use that might not meet the clinical definition of alcoholism but still has a significant impact on one’s mental health and well-being. In his book he opens up about the fears he faced in quitting drinking, including the worry that life without alcohol would be dull, lonely, or isolating. What he discovered instead was that sobriety brought clarity, connection, and joy far greater than he had imagined.

Kinney now speaks around the country, encouraging others to examine their relationships with alcohol and to embrace healthier lifestyles. Wednesday’s event is part of ongoing efforts to promote mental wellness and support substance use prevention in Richland County. You are invited to join an inspiring evening exploring the connection between mental health and sobriety and hear how one dad discovered a better life without alcohol.
