The fire danger around the WRCO listening area remains high. As a reminder it is important to check the DNR Burn website to check fire regulations daily. Conditions remain dry and fires can quickly get out of hand. Case in point, the Iowa County Communications Center received three fire calls in under an hour Monday afternoon.

A report of a cornfield fire near the intersection of Brecken Road and State Road 23 in the Township of Mineral Point was reported at approximately 3:50. The Mineral Point Fire Department and Mineral Point EMS responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished, and all units returned to quarters.

At approximately 4:00, the Iowa County Communications Center received a report of a barn fire near Ferndale Road and Ninth Street in the Township of Mineral Point. The Mineral Point Fire Department, Mineral Point EMS, Hollandale Fire Department, Darlington Fire Department, Belmont Fire Department and Iowa County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished, and all units returned to quarters.

The third call came in around 4:45. The Iowa County Communications Center received a report of a field fire near Hayward Crossing Road and Demby Road in the Township of Arena. The Arena Fire Department, Arena EMS, and Iowa County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished, and all units returned to quarters.

There were no injuries reported in each incident.
