SUPERIOR / SPRING GREEN, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – With a victory over the University of Northwestern last Saturday in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship game, the UW Superior Yellowjacket women’s basketball team earned the conference’s automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball tournament.

Following Monday’s selection show, the Yellowjackets are headed to the regional games hosted by UW-Stout, where they will play Whitman College in the opening round at the Johnson Fieldhouse. Whitman, out of Walla Walla, Wash. comes into the tournament with a 26-1. The Yellowjackets finished the year at 17 and 10.

This will be the fourth NCAA tournament appearance for the Yellowjacket women’s basketball program, and the first since 2018.

Charlotte Ferstl is a 2023 River Valley (Spring Green) graduate and member of the playoff bound Yellowjacket team. As a member of the River Valley Blackhawks Charlotte led the entire state of Wisconsin in rebounds in 2022-23, was named the MaxPreps Basketball Player of the Year as a senior, and participated in the WBCA All-Star Game.

WRCO’s Phil Nee had a chance to talk with Charlotte about all things Yellowjacket basketball and they looked ahead to the teams national playoff run, which starts this Friday March 7th versus Whitman.
