Wonewoc-Center won a boys basketball game over Riverdale on Monday night 72-64.  The game was one of just a few played because of the extreme cold weather. Both teams were hot from the outside in the first half.  The Chieftains led by 10 at one point before the Wolves came back to lead 38-37 at halftime.  The Wolves kept the scoring going in the 2nd half while Riverdale went cold.  In the end Wonewoc-Center won the game by 8 points. It was their first win of the season as they improved to 1-11.  Riverdale fell to 2-11 with the loss.

Cam Thellefson led all scorers with 35 points for the wolves. He made 5 three pointers and was 8 for 10 from the line. Alik Grigorev added 13, and Gavin Olson had 12 points for Wonewoc-Center.  The team was 16 for 31 from the free throw line.

Riverdale sophomore Bevyn Dennis had the hot hand for the Chieftains with 19 in the first half on the way to 32 for the game. Sophomore Owen Blankenship scored 20.  Henry Drone totaled 6 points, Chase Chitwood and Gavin Kruel each had 3 points. The Chieftains made 7 three pointers and went 8 for 9 from the line.

Riverdale won the JV game 59-51 over the Wolves.

Following the 72-64 win, Wonwoc-Center will prepare for a game at Necedah on Thursday night. Tonight’s game with Pittsville has been canceled. Riverdale will get ready for a trip to Cuba City on Thursday.
