WILMOT, Wis (WRJN) – A new target has emerged in the celebration of collisons in Kenosha County. For the first time ever, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department will be entering an old squad car into the demolition derby at the Kenosha County Fair. That will happen Sunday at 1pm.  The department says they are anticipating other drivers will be targetting them early, and often. After the derby, the squad car will be donated to Wilmot Union High School, where students will repair it for future derby events

The 2024 Kenosha County Fair kicks off today, with an array of new entertainment and expanded events under the theme “Hay Bales & Cow Tails.” Running through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Wilmot, the fair is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors, surpassing last year’s record attendance of over 50,000.

Highlights include the Canine Stars Stunt Dog Show, known from “America’s Got Talent,” and the All-American Lumberjack Show.

The grandstand will feature two nights of combine demolition derbies, with a fireworks display following Friday’s event.

The “Fairest of the Fair” will be crowned on Saturday morning, with the winner receiving a $1,000 scholarship and a lifetime fair membership.

Daily admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children aged 7-11, and free for those 6 and under, while parking remains free.
