WISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Republican Senate candidate Eric Hovde has won the GOP primary in Wisconsin for U.S. Senate.

The Associated Press called the race at 8:20 p.m.

Hovde was running against two people who were not actively campaigning, Charles Barman and Rejani Raveendran.

It was expected that Hovde would have little issue in earning the nomination going into the partisan primary.

“Since I started this campaign my focus has been to defeat do-nothing Tammy Baldwin and restore the American Dream for people in Wisconsin and across the country,” Hovde said in a statement after winning the primary. “I will always put the people of Wisconsin first by working tirelessly to lower costs, secure the southern border, and fix our broken healthcare system.”

Thank you, Wisconsin!

I look forward to earning everyone’s support this November. We’ve got a country to go save. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/pdASlC998a

Hovde will face Tammy Baldwin in the general election this fall. Baldwin, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, said she would stand up for working people of Wisconsin.

“Tonight, I’m honored to receive the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate to continue our fight to lower costs for Wisconsin families, stand up for American jobs and manufacturing, and restore our reproductive freedoms,” Baldwin said in a statement. “While I am running to put Wisconsin families first, my opponent Eric Hovde is a multi millionaire California bank owner who has insulted our seniors, our farmers, our moms, and just about everyone else in our great state.”
