Racine, Wis (WRJN) – Homeowners in specific areas of Racine are about to have an opportunity to make repairs and enhancements to their properties, thanks to the City’s Tax Increment District (TID)-funded Homeowner Repair and Enhancement Program.

The program, set to launch in the coming months, will provide financial assistance to eligible homeowners residing within the boundaries of TID 22, 23, 27, 28, and 31. The website says they’ll help to fix a leaky roof, upgrade plumbing, or improve energy efficiency..

Homeowners within the designated TID areas can apply during the specified application windows, which are as follows:

TID 22 and 23: June 1 – June 30, 2024
TID 27 and 28: May 1 – May 31, 2024
TID 31: Anticipated for 2025, dependent on funding availability

Once an application is submitted, city staff will review it and schedule an inspection of the property. Homeowners will then be asked to provide a quote or estimate from a contractor to perform the necessary work. The Community Development Authority (CDA) will then determine which applications will be funded, though applying does not guarantee funding.

Homeowners can visit the program’s website at BuildUpRacine.org to learn more about the eligibility criteria, application requirements, and deadlines.
