WAUSAU, Wis. (WXCO) – The couple who was the driving force behind the recent success of Taste N’ Glow Balloon Fest said they won’t be a part of planning an event in 2024.

Balloons have graced the skies of Wausau since 2002, when Steve Woller started the Wausau Balloon Rally. Saving the event in 2021, it became what we know now as, Taste N’ Glow Balloon Fest.

Local businesses and spectators supported the efforts to make Taste N’ Glow a success. Even a generous land owner allowed them to use his 90 acres for parking for FREE.

It was undoubtedly one of Wausau’s biggest events in the summer and took place the second weekend of July.

But last year the land owner announced that he wanted to sell the land. Woller worked hard to raise funds to purchase that property. But ultimately came up short. Now, they are under fire and unable to find a new location for the event which takes about 120 acres.

Their Facebook post ends by saying, “There will not be a Taste N’ Glow Balloon Fest in 2024, with Steve and Nancy Woller’s involvement. Thank you for your support at this difficult time.”

Taste N’ Glow 2023 was Bulls Falls Radio Brittney Merlot’s and WFHR and WIRI’s Melissa Kaye’s first time there.

“I enjoyed every moment of it! Especially the live music and the balloons blasting fire, lighting up the skies to the beat!” – Brittney Merlot
